Eating gluten free has become a fad diet lately, but the foods that many are eating to lose weight may not be helping them. The increased interests in manufacturing foods that are free of gluten is great news for those with celiac disease, but the fad diet is not recommended for those who can tolerate gluten. Many of the gluten-free packaged goods are higher in carbohydrates, sugar, fat, and calories then their “gluten filled” counterparts. In short, “gluten free” does not necessarily mean nutritious.
